{"id":1483,"date":"2020-01-01T11:30:03","date_gmt":"2020-01-01T11:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=1483"},"modified":"2019-12-27T18:08:22","modified_gmt":"2019-12-27T18:08:22","slug":"new-year-status-report-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=1483","title":{"rendered":"New Year status report 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is my seventh year of writing up the status of my books &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=281\">2014<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=418\">2015<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=736\">2016<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=1137\">2017<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=1310\">2018<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnkfulton.com\/?p=1408\">2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After my retirement from writing children&#8217;s books last year, this was (not unexpectedly) a quiet year.<\/p>\n<p>In August, my short story &#8220;The Whisperer&#8221; was included in the <i>Best of British Science Fiction 2018<\/i>, which is an anthology published by Newcon Press featuring stories written by British authors that were published for the first time during the calendar year of 2018.\u00a0&#8220;The Whisperer&#8221; was originally published as one of the shortlisted stories in the <i>Leicester Writes Short Story Prize Anthology 2018<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I submitted a small number of short stories to various places this year, but none of them were accepted.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020 I may try to write some more sci-fi short stories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is my seventh year of writing up the status of my books &#8211; see 2014, 2015,\u00a02016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
