The Shadow of Achilles

I’m delighted to announce that my Greek mythology re-telling of part of the Iliad is now available from Amazon in both paperback and ebook.

The Shadow of Achilles

A young prince of Troy is captured by the Greek forces besieging his city. He is imprisoned, sold into slavery, sent into exile, and stripped of everything, even his name… but he vows to return home, no matter how long it takes, or how many hardships he has to endure. Even though he knows his return means he will have to face again the mightiest of all the Greek warriors, and fall once more under the shadow of Achilles…

I’ve spent years working on this novel, then even more time trying to get it published with no luck from agents or publishers. But it’s probably one of the best things I’ve written, so rather than giving up on it entirely I’ve decided to put it out there into the world (or onto Amazon anyway) and let it fly free. I’ve never had much luck getting my books into bookshops (have I ever recounted the time that my local Waterstones in Leicester refused to stock The Wreck of the Argyll?) so being limited to the Amazon ecosystem isn’t really going to do the book’s chances of finding an audience any harm.

So anyway. Here it is: The Shadow of Achilles. If you think you’d like The Song of Achilles mixed with a more Rosemary Sutcliff coming-of-age vibe, give it a go:
